WAYNE DIXON is an active musician, Organist and choir director in the Greater Hartford area where he has served several churches. Presently, he is Minister of Music at Faith Congregational Church, Hartford, CT. He is the choir director for the North End Senior Center Choir, known as “The Harmonizers.” He also sings with Legacy of Spirituals, a Hartford based chorus that is committed to the preservation of Negro Spirituals. Formerly he served as the assistant director of the Seventh Army Chorus in Heidelberg, Germany, sang with the now-defunct Connecticut Opera, and participated in the United States Military Bicentennial celebration in Washington D.C. at the Kennedy Center. He is responsible for bringing the Hartford Symphony into North Hartford for the first time to perform “Messiah” by George Frederick Handel with the choirs of the three oldest black churches in Hartford.
Mr. Dixon received his early training from the late Dr. Gordon Stearns and attended Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC.
